INBORN TALENTS
I found it super helpful and interesting to make a list of all of my talents.
I included any skills that I have aquired or developed.
I included any talents or skills that I have let lapse.
I also made a list of talents and skills that people in my family line have or had.
(I thought about their professions and accomplishments.)
I asked myself if there is any evidence that I might have any of those same talents or skills.
(Sometimes skills/talents/gifts are passed down genetically, and we are unaware of it until something awakens the latent ability.)
I did some experimenting to see if I have a natural talent in one or more of those areas.
(A big clue is if you can easily pick up a new skill or some aspect of it comes naturally to you.)
Example:
I have always had an interest in carpentry but did not know if I had any aptitude for it.
There was one carpenter in my family, on both sides, that I know of.
I decided to take a class at a home and garden store to test the waters by learning to build a wooden plant stand.
It turns out, I do have a natural talent for carpentry!
My plant stand was the only one that was not crooked and wobbly.
And it also turns out that being a perfectionist is an asset
when it comes to carpentry, not a liability.
Nurture
As we start nurturing our inborn talents, it is interesting and sometimes surprising to see what emerges
and where it takes us.
We may be put on a new path in life that fills us with a sense of purpose.
Nurturing an inborn talent can be as simple as picking up a guitar and playing it for 5 minutes.
Basic Needs
Nurturing our inborn talents touches on 3 of the Basic Needs - Significance, Growth and Contribution.
Significance
- Importance
- To Matter
- To be Special
Growth
- Personal Development

When we uncover and use our natural gifts, or inborn talents,
we can make the contribution to the world that only we can make.
Through uncovering our natural gifts and talents and removing our blocks to using them,
we liberate ourselves from negative conditioning.
We can make a real contribution in the lives of others.
